As we expand the depth and frequency of posted articles here on Denver Parent, we’re looking for Denver-area contributing writers and local guest posts. We enjoy hosting other perspectives and would love to share yours with our readers. Whether you’ve had an experience as a parent you want to share, or attend a group you’d like us to focus on, we’re open to hearing your ideas for topics to share with the Denver Parenting community. Keep in mind this is not just mothers, but all parents, including same-sex and single partners. We don’t discriminate based on race, religion, or lifestyle choices.

What’s in it for you?

By contributing regular articles, you will increase exposure through your byline and bio on the website which can include links to your blog as well as your social media profiles. We also encourage you, as well as our other writers, to share articles on various social media platforms to drive more traffic to both your sites and to Denver Parent. The combined social media reach of our current editorial team is substantial. When you become a regular contributor you will have access to the Denver Parent Contributors Facebook group, with access to chat with our other writers in the Colorado area. If the content is appropriate, we will also add your blog to our parenting blog list on the website and share articles from your site on Denver Parent.

In addition, we can possibly help establish you as a specialized parenting expert, dependent upon our ongoing editorial needs in that area. Most publications (online or print) don’t accept self-promotional material (in which you talk about your product over and over), but your photo and bio on the Denver Parent Contributor Page can contain links to your personal blog and/or Twitter/Instagram handle if you choose to share them.

Probably the biggest perk is that Denver Parent often receives in-kind payment for articles which range from tickets, travel, lodging, dining, entertainment experiences and more as well as the opportunity to test products for review. These opportunities are available to writers at our discretion and in exchange for an article about their experiences and sometimes just as perks (no writing necessary). We do ask that you follow through or pass the opportunity on to someone else if you can’t attend or use the product. You may suggest products or venues you would like to review and we will do our best to reach out to them on your behalf.

For information about Denver Parent statistics on current demographics and social reach, please see our new media kit.

What We Expect from You:

Timing, Collaboration, and Frequency

While the contributor’s agreement is not binding or contractual in length, Denver Parent requests at least one-to-two articles/posts per month, and if unable to continue providing content in the future, to give ample notice so we can replace the content. Contributors understand they will not be compensated, and that any benefits offered voluntarily by Denver Parent should not be expected. We ask that you try your best to honor the commitments you have made to us as a contributor. We know that life can unexpectedly get too busy and we value your family and priorities, but please try to give two weeks’ notice so we can find a replacement. The Denver Parent e-newsletter is sent to readers on Fridays, but articles are published on the website at a minimum of every other day.

Expectations and Code of Ethics

By publishing content on Denver Parent you give us permission to reproduce, distribute and edit any content published by you as a contributor. Posts may be edited/removed at the author’s request and/or at our discretion. We also have the right to turn down anything we think will not be of value to our readers.

Authors of the posted content acknowledge that articles and posts are original; they do not knowingly contain any untrue statements, invade any right of privacy, or infringe upon any statutory or common law copyright or otherwise violate the rights of any third party; and that all statements in the posts that are asserted as facts are true and/or based on reasonable research for accuracy. You may send us articles that appear on your own blog or that you have used in the past, but we ask that you alter the headline and some wording so it meets Google search engine guidelines for original content.

When reviewing venues or products, in particular lodging, use of cars, vacation experiences, etc., the financial benefits can be substantial and the tax repercussions will be your responsibility. No promotional or generic material will be considered (please visit our Advertising page for more info).

Article ideas and posts can be submitted to denverparenteditor@gmail.com in rich text with html or Word documents. Please send photos as a separate attachment from the document. We will respond to you in a reasonable amount of time to discuss possible placement in Denver Parent.

Your agreement to be a regular contributor is not binding or contractual, and you may walk away at any time. Contributors must abide by copyright laws and FTC guidelines when publishing content. This means no content, photos, or videos may be published without written consent from the original author, photographer, or videographer. When writing a review or sponsored post, authors must clearly disclose that they received compensation (this includes a free product or service) in exchange for writing the post.

Contributors must keep content free of profanity, opinion-editorials, and sexual (non-clinical) language.

Denver preferred, some Colorado authors will be considered.

No promotional or generic material will be considered. (please visit our Advertising page for more info)[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
