Charity at Home: Are your kids ready to do some Kung Food Fighting?

The Food Bank of the Rockies, one of our favorite local charities,  has launched a new kid’s club, Kung Food fighters Kid’s Club!

kung_food_fighters_chop_suey_louieBecause they can’t accept anyone under 14 to volunteer (many local non-profits have the same restrictions) they decided there was a need to develop an avenue for younger kids to get involved in fighting hunger and helping to make a  difference in their community.

The Kung Food Fighters Kids Club was a result of a lot of brainstorming and collaboration with local companies and friends of the food bank.  Mostly web-based,  kids can register online, visit the blog, Pinterest and YouTube pages, and learn about what other kids are doing across the world to give back, share their own stories and earn coins and prizes! There are also download ideas for fighting hunger, curriculum for school settings and more.

One of the cool things about this club is providing kids like yours with activities and information that will empower them to see your potential for making a difference in the world.

The website features Kate.  “She’s a kid just like you but her dad lost his job and her family can’t afford to buy food.”

Did you know that 1 out of every 4 kids in Colorado are hungry?  Hunger hurts and we can all do our part to help our neighbors in need.  We hope you’ll become a Kung Food Fighter today and tell your friends, siblings, cousins and classmates to do the same!  We can’t wait to fight hunger with you!  Check out all the fun stuff on this site and share your ideas with us!

One of the features of the club is attending club parties at local participating companies – the first one is a bowling party at Fun City on Monday, June 10 from 11 a.m-1 p.m. and the next will be a Jumpstreet party on Monday, July 15 from 10 a.m.-noon.

You can also earn Kung Food Coins?  How?

Chop Suey and Chop Louie encourage their members to do good in their communities and want to reward kids for all the great things they do.  They’d love to see your kid’s hunger fighting pictures, videos, read your stories and learn about all the creative ways you are making a difference for our neighbors in need! There’s a list of all the ways you can earn coins on the site!
