Traces Will Amaze You

When it comes to entertainment, it can be a challenge to find a show for the whole family to see and enjoy. “Traces” is that rare show that will delight people of all ages and it is playing at the Stage Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex through May 14.

What is it? “Traces” is not a play, a dance, or a musical, though it has a storyline, coordinated breathtaking moves and fun music. The 7 Fingers is a French Canadian theatrical entertainment company, and “Traces” is one of their traveling productions. Think Cirque du Soleil, minus the costumes and colorful themes. “Traces” highlights the incredible athletic talents of six men and one woman as they defy gravity and physical limitations on stage—using fireman poles, skateboards, an oversized hoop, chairs, and simply their bodies.

With an urban edge to the set and music, “Traces” even makes for a good date night—leave the kids at home! But then you will probably want to bring them back for a matinee to see the stunts for themselves.

Insiders tips: get there early and watch yourself “perform” in the lobby on a live TV screen, which is also broadcasting inside the theater until the show begins. Don’t rush off after the 90-minute show (no intermissions), since a few of the performers come out into the lobby and chat with adults and kids alike.
