Guest Post: Don’t miss Keystone Kidtopia

kidtopia4One of the biggest draws to Colorado during the winter months is of course, the skiing. We have no shortage of blue skies, white snow and fabulous lodging options which makes Colorado the perfect getaway destination for people near and far.

A favorite destination for our family is Keystone Mountain. It is less than a two hour drive from Denver and has a little something for everyone, including Kidtopia.

KIDTOPIA IN KEYSTONE

If you are wondering what Kidtopia is all about, you probably aren’t the only one. My family and I have lived in Colorado for several years, and while I knew it opened last year at Keystone, I didn’t know much about it. After attending the grand opening of Keystone Kidtopia this year, I can honestly say that I’m happy it’s an experience we can share with our children.

kidtopia1Kidtopia is exactly what it sounds like…..euphoria for children.

KIDTOPIA HEADQUARTERS

Kidtopia is designed around things that create happiness for young children, but activities that all ages can enjoy. When we were in Keystone, we visited Kidtopia Headquarters located within Dercum Square in River Run Village. They had games and crafts for kids, as well as face painting and other indoor activities for keeping the little ones happy.

Kidtopia Headquarters are located adjacent to the Dercum Square Ice Rink. Dercum Square Ice Rink is a picturesque area where families can ice skate and enjoy free cookies daily at 4 p.m. during cookie hour.

KIDTOPIA EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

During the grand opening event to kick off Kidtopia this year, they unveiled an awesome Kidtopia Snowfort atop Dercum Mountain. This year’s fort is bigger and better than the previous year. It is complete with racing slides and a special “tyke tower” that is great for small kiddos.kidtopia3

The Snowfort is the perfect place for kids and adults alike to take a break from skiing and enjoy some fun in the snow. It was wonderful to watch the kids walk through the snow walls to find an open space for playing and sliding down hills of snow. It gave my husband and I a moment to rest our feet and take in the beauty of the mountains around us.

Be sure not to miss visiting the Snowfort when visiting Keystone.

If you love the mountains, then you have probably heard of the incredible work that the Search and Rescue Avy dogs do each winter. When visiting Keystone Kidtopia on Tuesday’s remember to stop by for a meet and greet at 4 p.m. in River Run Village.

The Avy dogs are worth taking the time to meet. Don’t forget to snap a picture next to your favorite furry friend.

There are so many activities that make Keystone Kidtopia the place to visit this winter. Be sure to check out the Kidtopia schedule that runs from December kidtopia213th-April 12th to plan your families stay.

KIDS SKI FREE 2014-2015

Keystone is continuing “Kids Ski Free” throughout the 2014-2015 ski season. When you book your stay at a Keystone owned and operated lodge your child under the age of 12 will ski free. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Plan your families vacation now to enjoy Keystone Kidtopia and FREE kid’s skiing opportunities.
