If you’re looking for a Father’s Day weekend getaway, look no further. The Frisco BBQ challenge is a perfect family event with activities for everyone.
We were invited this year and I knew when we were David would be so happy to spend his father’s day weekend in Frisco. It’s such a beautiful place this time of year with the snow mostly melted, the green trees and grass and the fresh crisp air.
The Frisco BBQ Challenge runs both Friday and Saturday all day. There are 70+ BBQers competing for lots of different awards. They come from all over the U.S. for this event and some of them are rather decorated BBQers. There is more food than you could ever imagine and so many choices, it’s impossible to choose which team to support. The teams compete in categories including pork, ribs, chicken, brisket, BBQ sauce, salsa, dessert, and anything goes! Any type of food BBQ’ed will be there plus more!
David, Aiden, our two friends, and I all headed to the event with empty stomachs ready to eat! There was no way to decide which stand to choose, so the boys decided the places with the longest lines must be the best. I have no way of testing this theory, but the plates we did get did not disappoint.
While we were waiting in line, we started with some strong alcoholic cider. They also have other beers and wine as well as lots non-alcoholic drinks.
This was the first plate we ordered – spare ribs. We all decided it was the best BBQ sauce we’ve ever tasted and we’ve been on a mad hunt to find it since.
We also got brisket and pulled pork to share.
They have pig races, bouncy houses and lots of other fun stuff to keep the kids occupied as well!
Here we are happy with full tummies.
Go check the Frisco BBQ challenge out! You’ll be happy you did.
