Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA – fabulous for families!

2013-03-02 13.09.29Last weekend we got off our duffs and went up to Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA to really immerse ourselves into the Colorado Winter.

The camp is full of everything you possibly want to do with a family. Not being big skiers (in fact, we’re not really winter sports people) – we still found tons of things to do. In just a short visit, we swam in the indoor pool, took an archery class, made crafts, enjoyed the new rock climbing wall in a one hour class and roller skated.

What’s amazing is that’s just a few of the possible fun things there are to do!

For winter adventurers, there’s dog-sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating,  tubing, Nordic skiing and cross-country skiing.  Hot cocoa sleigh rides are offered daily and there are a ton of other family programs you can sign up for!

For some relaxation you can attend morning and evening yoga classes and a massage therapist is on hand for a fabulous massage!

2013-03-02 15.04.43We stayed in the Indian Peaks Lodge and the facility is fantastic! It’s really very much like staying in a nice hotel (pack your own shampoo), but much to the kids chagrin there’s no TV!!! Yikes!

However, we brought along board games and enjoyed a fantastic family bonding evening together!

2013-03-02 13.46.06The YMCA is great for family reunions, and they have a fantastic project this year – their Military Getaway package, which can be used by families that are facing deployment or reconnecting after returning home from active duty.  Get more information at www.mission623.org.

Spring Break is coming and there are tons of family activities available! The summer cabin bookings open to the public on April 3rd and our lodges, campsites, yurts are now open for reservations.

Also, the traditional summer camp registration is now open for summer and booking fast. Session 6 is already 70% full!

As always you get two free breakfasts with a stay in a lodge room and our stay two nights, get the third night free special runs March 25 – May 23rd in both cabins and lodge rooms.

  1. Oh, this looks like so much fun. For all generations in a family!

  2. This looks like a great laid back family trip full of fun activities. I might have to check out the summer programs.

  3. I like all the simple activities they offer because we are not yet skiers either. I know we’d find things to have fun trying. I’ve never heard of a yurt, forgive me? I love what they offer for military families.

  4. This looks like so much fun. I think my family would have a blast up there.
