“I don’t know how she does it” and a fantastic mani/pedi deal!

Just in time for the upcoming release of the Sarah Jessica Parker movie I Don’t Know How She Does It (opening on September 16th) Eversave, one of the top three daily deal sites with deals targeted toward women and their families, surveyed more than 700 mothers to find out how they “do it all.”

In the film, Parker’s character, a working mother, lies awake at night mentally running through her “list” of things she needs to do. In reality, 90 percent of the respondents said they lie awake at night thinking about the things they need to get done.

Personally, this all really hits a note with me – see that woman in the picture? That’s me. Why? I have a wonderful child with an IEP and therapy two times a week, I run my own company, I sit on 3 volunteer boards, I have 3 blogs that I write for AND I like to have fun (crazy eh?).

One of the ways I relax is by pampering myself. I’m not particularly “girly” but I LOVE massages, wraps, manicures and pedicures. “Eversave surveyed over 700 moms and 35% percent said they find time for themselves once a month and their preferred way to spend that time is pampering themselves with manicures, pedicures, facials and other spa treatments.” That’s me. Maybe not once a month, but if I could find a deal for them I would go more often – OH! And here’s a deal (grin!):

  1. Working a part-time position with a local non-profit, running my own business, having two kiddos that are very involved in activities, being active with our church, etc. etc., I have to use my time effectively. Starting the day off with positive thoughts and mantras set the day off right. Yoga and running keep me sane, wine and chocolate keep me happy, and positive family/friends keep me laughing, which is the best medicine of all 🙂

  2. I DON’T do it all! I work part-time and am home with my two kiddos the rest of the time. It’s hard work, and I do find that a little pampering really helps. I’d love to get a pedi and to take along another mama friend.

  3. How do I do it all? Not sure if I do … but I sure try. I guess I don’t know how to say no, but I also try to manage my time correctly. I am usually up late and I get a lot done via email (I don’t know how we existed before email!). The ability to communicate with people when it works for me and for them is great. Often I catch up on my todo’s late a night, but luckily my kid’s school doesn’t start until 9 so we also don’t get up until around 8. I also don’t work full time. I found a great balance for me and my family is to work about 30 hours a week. This allows me time to participate in school volunteer opportunities, community volunteer opportunities and still work and be with my family. If I won a mani-pedi for me and a friend … I would take my friend, Ange who is also a full time working mom who I am sure could use some fund girl time!
