When was the last time you walked Denver?

“Walking Denver” by Mindy Sink is a wonderful way to organized those outings you’ve been wanting to take with our family. Need a stay-cation? This is the book for you!

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve had this book for a while and haven’t had time to try any of the treks – although this weekend might be a wonderful time to go! (I’ll be sure to report on our experience when we do it!)

The walks range from Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre to the Mile High Loop in City Park and public art scattered throughout downtown. With an amazing section in the back that provides “Walks by Theme”, you can explore the Denver area by view, restaurants, parks, water, shopping trips, architecture or history.

The walk’s commentary includes trivia about architecture, local culture, and neighborhood history, plus tips on where to dine, have a drink, or shop. Each tour includes a clear neighborhood map and vital public transportation (where appropriate) and parking information. Route summaries make each walk easy to follow, and a “Points of Interest” section lists each walk’s highlights.

Mindy’s clear and entertaining guide shows that she not only walked all of these routes (which I know is a fact!) but also she walked the routes with families and entertainment in mind.

I’m going to go do one of these walks this weekend – join me?

What a good idea. Love the idea that this book puts forth. I think I’m just going to have to grab a copy and start walk’n! Thanks.

What a great idea for a book! Sounds like Mindy has compiled some great research for Denver-area families.

What a fun book! I will definitely have to check it out and get the kids out expoloring our town!

sounds like fun – I’ll join you!

I’m thinking of doing a staycation next year. This is a great resource for that!
